Soil water dispnibility in La Plata.
The aim of this work is to characterize the hydrological situation, its distribution and variability in the La Plata area. The BHS method was applied to a continuous series of monthly precipitation and temperature registered at the Experimental Station "Julio Hirschhorn" during 1964-95. The association between the hydrological situation and the general water requirements of some crops of economic importance is presented. Furthermore the results obtained from the application of the monthly climatic hydrological balance to the same series is analyzed; detecting the hydrological situation differences between both methodologies that optimize the BHS application to obtain useful agrometeorological information.
