Clonal propagation by rooting of cutting of  Ilex paraguariensis and the stimulant effect of 4-clororesorcinol.

Rooting of stem segments of glasshouse-grown plants of Ilex paraguariensis L. when the base of the cuttings were treated for two hours with 100 mM 4-chlororesorcinol previously to applying a talc mixture of IBA, 1-phenyl,3-methyl, pyrazol-5-ona, sugar and a fungicide. An increase in the number of secondary roots as well as of the total root lenght was obtained after 45 days, compared to the response of those cuttings without the pre-treatment.

Key words: Rooting, Ilex paraguariensis, yerba mate, indol butiric acid, 4-chloro resorcinol, 1-phenyl, 3-methyl, pyrazol-5-ona, PPZ.
